Mini-facelift is a minimally invasive procedure designed to tighten and smooth the lower face.

Often called the “weekend facelift” – the mini-facelift is used to decrease the signs of aging in the neck and jaw areas. By removing excess skin and fatty deposits and “lifting” the skin, the lower face takes on a smoother, younger appearance. Performed under local anesthesia, there is usually little or no pain and much less swelling, bruising and shorter downtime with a mini-facelift. The results of a mini-facelift are not as long lasting as those of a full facelift, but this procedure is appealing to many who are looking for gradual, subtle changes – quickly. Many people choose to have a chin, cheek or jowl liposuction done at the same time!

PREPARATON FOR MINI-FACELIFT SURGERY:

• Eat a nutrient rich diet to help your body heal and recover faster.
• If you smoke-please refrain for 2 weeks before and several weeks after surgery.
• Avoid taking aspirin and ibuprofen products.
• Discuss all medications, vitamins and herbals with your surgeon.
• Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery.
• Do not wear makeup or contact lenses to surgery.
• Have someone drive you the day of surgery and plan to stay with you a couple days to help you.

PROCEDURE – MINI-FACELIFT SURGERY: (Chin, Anterior, Posterior procedures)

1. You will be draped and the surgical area thoroughly cleansed with an antiseptic solution.
2. You will be given local anesthesia and a sedative if needed to help you relax.
3. Under the chin facelift -targets the excess fat in the neck and jaw area. A small incision is made through which liposuction is performed with a cannula.
4. Skin is tightened inwardly using a laser and muscles are tightened with sutures.
5. Sutures close this small incision and a dressing is applied.

1. Anterior mini-facelift – targets the chin, jawline and lower cheeks.
2. An incision is made in front of the ears and into the scalp as inconspicuously as possible.
3. Skin is lifted and re-laid, fatty deposits removed or repositioned and excess skin is tightened.
4. Sutures close the incision and a dressing is applied.

1. Posterior mini-facelift – tightens skin in the jowls and neck.
2. Incisions are made low behind the ears into the nape of the neck.
3. Skin is lifted and re-laid along the incision line which is closed with sutures.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER MINI-FACELIFT SURGERY: Recovery varies with each procedure as follows: Under the chin mini-facelift takes the least time to recover and most patients choose to have more extensive procedures performed at the same time. Anterior mini-facelift usually takes a week or less and discomfort is less intense than with traditional facelift. Posterior mini-facelift recovery takes about one week also. Even though you may be up and about in a day or two – you will need to take it easy for at least 1 week. You must avoid rigorous activity for 2-3 weeks following your surgery.
